What do I do at Gift of Learning?

It's a good question! I set up Gift of Learning to help learners. But that's a big description, so I'll break it down.

As a teacher, I want the best resources.

I'm always on the lookout for good ideas, whether in books, or on the web. Once I've found a useful piece of work, I save it so I don't have to hunt again! So that makes me a librarian.

I meet potential students, welcoming and reassuring them. Many feel apprehensive, nervous, unsure. It's easy to lose confidence when faced with a new beginning. I aim to rebuild that certainty. That makes me a mentor, too.

When someone contacts Gift of Learning, we make an appointment for an assessment. I have maths and English assessments prepared, as well as writing and spelling tests. I prepare an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student. That way, both the pupils and their parents have an understanding of the learning journey they will have with us.

Guide, assistant, teacher, librarian, mentor. That's my job!
